The Notion Band is a fast rising fusion band based in the city of Ibadan. With so much creativity, we are rooted in Jazz, gospel music and able to combine and experiment with different genre of music ranging from highlife, reggae, contemporary hip hop, african folk music and often incorporating classical elements in innovative ways.
The band is beginning to gain recognition as an influential music staple in the city; this ensemble of highly skilled players includes Isaac Olanrewaju on Bass Guitar, Odunewu Moses on Drums and Damilare Enitan on Electric Guitar.
About the Band Members...
Tope OLANREWAJU
Olanrewaju Tope Isaac popularly known as Tbazz was born in the late 80's and grew up in Ife, south West Nigeria. He picked up interest in music at an early age and has worked with various musical bands and artists even before the completion of his secondary education. His passion for the art drove him to apply to study music at the prestigious Polytechnic Ibadan where he bagged his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Music Technology.
Tbazz is fluent in various musical instruments, a renowned bass player, passionate music director, a philanthropist and a lover of Jazz music.
He has performed with the likes of Jimi Solanke, Bros Anji, Royal palace band, Trinity jazz band, Herbert Kunle Ajayi, Dapo Dina and had play time on international stages at the Lagos International Jazz festival and Ibadan jazz forum.
His desire to make impact in the lives of others, especially the youth culminated in being an instructor at the annual Oyo music Explosion and HKA summer music workshop.
His mentors Anthony Crawford, John patitucci and Richard Bona had great influence on his playing techniques and finesse. A Rhythmic bassist Tbazz appeals to the emotion of his audience with Percussive touches and grooves.
He hopes to be a shining example of a talented African making impact worldwide through his art. He has the heart of a bass player.
Moses ODUNEWU
We present Moses Odunewu, a Mechanical Engineer by profession; a drummer by practice, and born in the 90's, Moses developed an insatiable thirst for playing the drumset at an early age and this passion did not go unnoticed, though his parents wanted him to pursue engineering they supported him as much as they could and encouraged his God-given talent. He started playing drums in school and got called to join the school band this proved to be pivotal as he played and interacted with other drummers this also helped Moses amass long practice hours. A songwriter and singer he plays other percussion instruments as well like conga, sekere, clerb.
Moses gained admission into the Polytechnic Ibadan where he studied Mechanical Engineering and during his National Diploma days he was inspired by a Nigerian drummer K- sticks who had just bagged his PhD in drums, Calvin Rogers, Trospell.
A gospel drummer whose playing pattern portrays the influence of western pop,naija pop, latin music and smooth jazz. As the years passed by, Moses gained more experience playing at local churches with various choir, youth camps, solo artists and music bands. Moses maintains a healthy schedule as an engineer, a drum tutor and can be found at The Bridge Network where he worships and play.
Damilare OGUNLEKE
Damilare Enitan Ogunleke, popularly known as Guitar D is a guitarist and songwriter, a passionate, creative and inspirational musician who brings excitement, focus and leadership to open minded Music found its way into Damilare's heart in the year 2009 when he learned how to play the guitar and since then has been consistent in music. He is passionate about music with the natural ability to adjust own style to suit different music. A quick learner who is always open to learn new styles, having good coordination with other musicians has made him become a force to reckon with in Nigeria. Among his evident influence are Agboola Shadare, King Sunny Ade, George Benson, Norman Brown, Lagbaja Adedeji Adetayo and. Mike Aremu.
Damilare has performed at various concerts and events such as IGNITE (worship concert), JamCity Live (LeadCity University), colours of worship with Tinu Smith, Pelda's band, just to mention a few. He is presently the lead guitarist at The Bridge Network where he worship.
